** Don't have a profile? Please feel free to send us a message before you make your reservation request. We're rather more likely to accept requests from AirBnB'ers with profiles, etc. In the same way you feel more comfortable knowing a little more about the people you're staying with, we do too. :)**
Your Sydney home is a self contained, three level terrace house, just 2 minutes walk from the centre of Pyrmont (plus all the pubs, cafes, shops & restaurants that the Pyrmont Village has to offer).
We're no distance from the local tourist attractions of the PowerHouse Museum, National Maritime Museum, Jones Bay Wharf, Star City Casino Complex & Lyric Theatre, Darling Harbour, the historic Rocks area, and all the restaurants & night life of King Street Wharf too.
It's an easy 10 minute walk right into the heart of Sydney & everything the city centre has to offer - Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge (BridgeClimb), Queen Victoria Building, Circular Quay, Hyde Park, Botanic Gardens, Sydney Museum & Art Gallery, etc...
Built over three levels the house has the kitchen, laundry space + guest bathroom on the main entry level - the ground floor. (There's the washing machine & dryer for your use too if you need it).
Also on this ground level is the dining area & office space/library space. The guest bathroom (shower & lavatory) on this floor is reserved for you, our guests.
You're always more than welcome to make use our fully equipped kitchen (espresso + pod coffee machines, water filters, blenders, pots & pans, etc). As well as all the staples you may need for cooking - olive oils, salts & peppers, vinegars, flours, etc (so you don't need to buy that all in again).
So, while we've breakfast included for you as part of your stay, you can feel free to bring home some goodies from the best grocer/fromagerie in Sydney (Simon Johnson's), or wine-merchants, or deli (Signorelli Gastronomia) and cook yourself a meal at any time too.
Plus for all your every day needs, fruit & vegetables, etc there's also two (7 day / late night) supermarkets within a block or so. Again, an easy walk...
And of course, you can always eat you meal; breakfast, lunch or dinner, on the deck, overlooking the water...
On the top floor of the house is the attic space... with fold out/bed sofa and a great view of the water. There's also a bathroom down on the floor below with bath, and another separate loo, if it's too late at night to venture right down the stairs to the guest bathroom on the ground floor.
The sofa bed is quite new. We've slept on it ourselves for around 7 days when family came to stay, and it's pretty comfortable as sofa beds go...
The space is fully modernised & renovated. With air-conditioning too. While the space is private and not accessible (except by the stairs up to the attic level, it does not have a door. This hasn't seemed to worry any of our previous guests (see the reviews).
We provide all linen and bath towels.
We've free wireless for you through out the house as well as a fast broad-band computer with full net access if you're traveling without your own lap-top. There's free local phone calls, and access to Skype (Video calling) as well.
Direct bus access to the CBD and all its sights is from our doorstep (literally). Buses run every few minutes and take around 5 - 10 minutes to get you right into the heart of the city, and through to Circular Quay. Plus there's light rail (tram), trains, and ferries - all easy walks, and never more than 10 minutes away.
The house is fully air conditioned - Warm in winter, cool in summer.
Because the house is on three levels, and the stairs are steep, we wouldn't recommend the property for people with any mobility issues or for children.
We also have a little dog (a Pomeranian), so again, not recommended for those with allergies or aversions.
We're more than happy to organise breakfast for you, and there's no shortage of seriously good baristas and cafes if you get bored with what we have on offer.
We're pretty flexible with check in times. We work from home, so there's generally always someone around.
We'll provide you with keys, and there's easy (and secure) access, so you can come and go as you please.
The neighbourhood:
Pyrmont is one of the inner city villages of Sydney, and is about 2kms from the centre of Sydney.
Pyrmont was once a thriving industrial waterfront / working port area with ship-building, factories and wool-stores. Over the last decade there's been a considerable influx of new residents and commercial / residential development that has transformed the area into a trendy mix of inner city residents and commercial HQs. For example Goo gle has their Sydney office, the "Goo gleplex" just down the road, as is Fairfax Media, NOKIA, and the Seven Network (TV). Media Production houses, boutique cable TV channels, etc.
From our home near Union Square it's only a 10 minute walk to the Sydney CBD: Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Centre Point Tower, Sydney WildLife World. And we're only a short stroll to Darling Harbour, Star City & Lyric Theatre, King Street Wharf, Circular Quay and Chinatown.
It's the perfect spot if you've limited time in Sydney because you'll not waste any time getting to all the attractions... you're already right in the heart of it...
The UTS campus, the ABC's Ultimo headquarters (Australia's National Broadcaster), the Sydney Convention Centre, and the Sydney Entertainment Centre, are all within walking distance. Sydney University is about 30 minutes walk away (only 10 mins in a cab or bus).
Right here in Pyrmont there's no end of good cafes. Plus there's a complete range of restaurants; from five star fine dining right through to greasy-spoon takeaways, all within a couple of blocks. Being ex-restauranteurs we'd be more than happy to point you in the right direction for a great meal in Sydney. And there's plenty on tap too. You can't walk more than a block in any direction without walking into the front bar of a local pub, or a wine bar, or a great cafe, or restaurant…
To give you an idea, there's seven of Australia's top restaurants within easy walking distance (Quay, Tetsuya, Est., Bilson's, Rockpool, Becasse, & Guillaume At Bennelong). And with a full range of cafes and restaurants in between, right through to the cheap & cheerful Harry's Cafe de Wheels (a late night Sydney institution), NAustralialisted King, and all the vibrant offerings of Chinatown there's no end of options.
Transport options are great: tram, mono-rail, and buses are all pretty much at the doorstop, and a main Sydney City (Town Hall) & train station is only 10 minutes walk away too. Central Station is 15 - 20 minutes walk (5 mins by bus or tram).
The international and Domestic airports are only about 15 - 20 minutes drive away (longer during traffic peaks), again, all easily accessible by public transport too.
Please just send us a message if you've any questions about staying with us, or visiting Sydney.
cheers,
Vinh & Stuart
